Emerging from the depths of Germany’s techno scene, Wigbert has carved a unique space for himself with his forward-thinking productions and hypnotic sets. Known for his deep, intricate sound design and a relentless commitment to innovation, he has released on highly respected labels, including Pan-Pot’s Second State and Adam Beyer’s DCLTD. With a blend of analogue warmth and futuristic rhythms, Wigbert continues to push boundaries while staying grounded in the raw, emotional core of techno, while embodying the essence of contemporary techno through a sonic study of dystopian rhythms, atmospheric textures, and growing intensity. We caught up with him to discuss his creative process for his latest album Momentum on his Achievement imprint, influences, and what lies ahead in his ever-evolving musical journey.

> Hi Wigbert, how are things with you? Have you been keeping yourself busy this year?
Hey, I’m doing really well, thanks for asking! Yes, it’s been a packed year. I’ve been heavily focused on launching my new label Achievement, and at the same time I was working on finishing my new album Momentum. It’s been intense, but I’m really happy with how everything has turned out.

> Having finished your new Momentum album and it now being released, how would you describe its conception and journey so far?
The album reflects my musical journey and the evolution of my sound over the past few years. The tracks were made during different times in my life and in different studios, as I moved around quite a bit over the last three years. I’m always refining my sound, chasing a vision of where I want it to go. It was really important for me to infuse the music with emotion and personal connection. One moment that stands out was when I was jamming on the track “New Momentum,” and I had this strong feeling that a new energy was building around me — with the label, and as an artist — and that became a defining point in the process.

> It’s an excellent album you have put together, full of raunchy hypnotic rhythms and quality abstract grooves. What motivates you to keep creating?

Thank you so much! My creative drive really comes from my musical vision. Having my own label gives me the freedom to release music on my own terms — at my own pace and in my own way. That level of independence is incredibly motivating. Being able to connect with people through my music is what it’s all about. That connection is what keeps me going.

> We also understand that it will be released on your new imprint called Achievement, what is your masterplan for it and who can we expect to see contribute to its catalogue?
Right after the original Momentum album release, there will be a special remix edition featuring some amazing reworks by producers I really like at the moment. I’ll drop just one name for now: Cirkle is contributing a remix. But there’s more to come — please stay tuned for future announcements!

> What is your current studio setup made up of? Are there any hardware/ software that you can’t live without?
One of the most essential pieces in my setup is definitely my modular system. It’s a constant source of inspiration and often helps me discover new sounds — sometimes completely by accident. Whenever I feel stuck, I turn to the modular. It offers a fresh perspective or a solid base I can always build on. It’s an integral part of my creative process.

> Can you name a favourite track that follows you everywhere for DJ sets, that you love to play, and please let us know what draws you to it?
Tough to pick just one, but a key track that really connected me with the hypnotic side of techno — and continues to inspire me — is “A Shell of Speed” by Abdulla Rashim (aka Anthony Linell). I’ve played it many times, and I still remember being blown away the first time I dropped it. The hypnotic synths keep evolving throughout the track, and it doesn’t need a break or drop to create tension — it just builds and builds. It’s definitely a personal classic.

> We have been uploading selected new and forgotten albums to our YouTube channel in recent years to preserve some techno history, which one or two long players have inspired you over the years?
Definitely New Atlantis by Efdemin. That album still inspires me and actually influenced the creation of my track “Focus” from my debut album five years ago. Another standout for me is Oscar Mulero’s The Beauty of Leaving a Legacy. His sound design and the depth of his tracks are just incredible — dark, textured, and beautifully produced.

> We wish you all the best in your future endeavours, is there anything you would like to mention or champion before we bring this chat to a close?
Thanks for the interest in speaking with me today regarding my new album Momentum and label Achievement. I’d just like to say: stay true to yourself, don’t rush your path, and don’t compare yourself to others. Believe in what you love — and enjoy the moment. Thanks again for having me!
