DTR | Singular Anomalies - Variabili Nascoste - GRT031

Naples-based producer Singular Anomalies returns to his Italian imprint Greta Recordings with Variabili Nascoste, a tight five-track techno EP that blends subtle aesthetics with analogue elements. Having previously released on labels such as Kr!z’s Token, TWR72’s Float, and Evod Music, Singular Anomalies brings seasoned depth to Greta’s catalogue.

Opening with “Inequality” the EP establishes its mood with crisp, dominant kicks layered beneath subtle modular bleeps and chopping frequencies. It’s both deliberate and dance floor hungry-focused without sacrificing groove. “Spin” follows, where rubbery bass pulses and rising synth arcs suggest motion and tension in equal measure.

On “Qubit,” the atmosphere deepens: flickering percussion and taut textures coalesce, creating a refined version of techno that nods to the underground while still feeling forward-looking. “Entanglement” follows with its cyclical stabs and sci-fi overtones conjuring a dystopian vision. Then the final work and title track, “Variabili Nascoste” brings the package full circle. A late-night trip, stripped back and built on a sturdy low-end pressure and warping top-end details; it feels quietly triumphant.

Throughout the EP, Singular Anomalies’ production shines, it’s clean, textured, and direct. While the grooves are strong enough for the club, there’s a reflective quality here that rewards headphones listening just as much. For fans of techno that don’t choose between raw energy and refined sound design, Variabili Nascoste delivers with confidence and esteem.
