DT:Premiere | Sleepy Cat - Isolate [VAST]

Spencer Hardwick, a Portland-based musician, has launched a new underground techno label called VAST. It will feature a variety of up-and-coming American artists as well as others, emphasising raw, hypnotic sounds with analogue characteristics, modular sounds, and imaginative ideas.

Sleepy Cat is a well-known DJ and producer in the underground club scene in Los Angeles. He has a varied approach and has made an impact with his visceral live recordings and dramatic, immersive hardware performances. After appearing on Secus’ Rituals and Orly Gal’s Hidden Symbols, this release titled Modality highlights a cerebral and mesmerising aspect of his sound.

For this DT:Premiere we selected the track “Isolate” with a broken beat and intoxicating atmosphere. Swirling, analogue textures combine with a bold kick drum that increases the pressure to a euphoric breakdown of space and respite before launching into another wave of dystopian cinematics.
