Hamburg is home to DISTRICT 66, a label that’s known for featuring quality variations of techno along with artists such as Arnaud Le Texier, Myk Derill, Mattias Fridell, Philippe Petit, and Progression UK.
Johannes Volk from Giessen, Germany shows up for the fourth release by the label called Insert EP. Johannes is highly respected following contributions to legendary labels such as Token, Jeff Mill’s Axis Records and Sven Väth’s Cocoon, along with his own Exploration imprint launched in 2011.
There is also a remix from one half of the label head duo, Clark Davis has released on labels ranging from Gynoid Audio, Wall Music, and My Best Friend aka MBF amongst others.
For this DT:Premiere we selected the second original track “Hide” that is infused with a raw and old school sounding funk. Wonky notes, Detroit vibes, and piercing drum hits make it instantly adorable and spaced out, including a serious edge deep in its heart.
