AnGy KoRe is an artist who has been leading the way for many years. His relentless output is something to be admired as he carves out a path of his own and he continues to build up a following of hardcore supporters. With his music released on labels such as The Advent’s Kombination Research, UMEK’s 1605, Ricardo Garduno’s Illegal Alien and Spektre’s Respekt imprint, Angelo pushes forward again and launches his new label called Himmel.
Inaugurating the Italian’s new project is his debut album called Clarion, the focus is on showcasing different styles of Techno. An eclectic collection of original works, it shows his progression as a producer and constant hunger for new ideas whilst always having the club setting in mind…
> 01. Which artists and genres inspired you to start producing music?
Since I was a teenager I was fascinated from 90’s Techno and progressive music, I can mention artists like Picotto and Gigi D’Agostino.
Afterwards I discovered Hardstyle and it was love at first sight!
With the passing of years I went down with the BPM, but thanks to these music experiences I created my own Techno concept.
> 02. What production hardware or software do you get the best results from, what does it bring to your work?
I have used Fruity Loops for more than 15 years,
I really think it’s so undervalued sometimes, and often people says it’s not one of the best software. Anyway I love it and I’ll never change it!
My favourite hardware is the Bass Station from Novation, it’s a monster… I create 80% of my bass parts thanks to this amazing synthesiser.
> 03. Which track from your own back catalogue is a staple in your DJ/Live sets?
The track was released in 2014, it has a basic groove and a simple vocal, but still in 2017 it’s able to break the dancefloor, every time I play it!
“The Power In Your Face” [Abstract] (2014)
> 04. What aspect do you enjoy the most from working in music?
I like to enjoy the last cigarette in the studio listening to a track I just completed, I like the unique smell of the club and its magic atmosphere, and when the hands goes up! People dancing and screaming like there’s no tomorrow!
In one word, I like EVERYTHING!
> 05. What would you change or improve about the music industry and/or club culture?
There are so many labels releasing big quantity of music, sometimes not caring about the quality.
Beatport and the other music distributors must pay more attenction on what they put on the market, being more restrictive.
Techno is constantly evolving and there’s nice music around, but there is also a lot of trash.
> 06. What’s your passion outside of making music?
I love retro gaming, the 80’s and 90’s arcade video games from bars, the consoles like Super Nintendo and Sega Mega Drive makes me crazy!
They let me become a child again, giving me lots of joy and a sweet melancholy.
I spend hours and hours playing like a nerd during my free time.
> 07. Where has been one of your most enjoyable gigs to date and what made it so special?
Wow, it’s very hard to decide a gig in particular… in nearly 8 years of djing as AnGy KoRe, a million of wonderful experiences came into my mind!
Every gig gave me memories, no matter if I played at a festival with 10,000 people,
or in a small club of a forgotten village,
every gig is unique and has its soul. Everywhere I played I collected funny experiences, I met nice people and had great times.
> 08. Which tracks by another artist have really caught your attention recently?
Another hard question.
I can do a long list of nice tracks I’m playing recently, but but I’ll finish next week maybe…
No. sorry, I can’t give you only one track, it will be so impartial.
> 09. Which artists do you keep a close eye on and rate highly for the future?
Gabriel Padrevita, he’s an emerging but so genial producer.
I created with him my second label called Luft, and soon we’ll release a series of massive collaborations on it.
> 10. What forthcoming projects or releases are we yet to see?
I want to show you a video teaser of my track “I Wanna You” from my 13 track album Clarion.
It was released on my label Himmel on May 8th,
and in my opinion this is one of the best track’s from the album.
