What Came First is a new off shoot from the well known Egg London club brand that has seen such guests as Sven Väth, Laurent Garnier, Pan-Pot and more.
The eleventh EP from this relatively new imprint sees two originals from the now Berlin based Jonty SkruFFF who many will know from his six year residency at Sisyphos club there, whilst also hosting the “Berlin Berlin” parties at Egg also. His music for labels such as Black Butter and Shitkatapult along with a remix of Motor’s “Death Rave”, has won him a Quartz Award France, of similar standing to a Grammy.
Remix duty comes from the one and only Daniel Miller, the founder of legendary record label Mute Records. Signing artists such as Moby, New Order, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Goldfrapp and Depeche Mode, his influence on modern music is largely respected and appreciated.
Following an invitation from Regis to participate in a Sandwell District event, Daniel has been DJing regularly since 2012, playing around the world and becoming a regular at the the infamous Berghain.
We selected Daniel’s remix of “Warpaint” for this DT:Premiere as he focuses on a pounding beat, using mechanical cuts and abstract sonics to create a heady and tense affair, full of character and change ups through it’s extended duration.
