Stockholm LTD the label created by Pär Grindvik in 2002 began as an outlet for singles and EP’s from Swedish artists with a focus on releasing timeless electronic music. It has since developed into a hallmark for finely crafted electronic music from a range of international artists such as Ed Davenport, Jonas Kopp, Pfirter and Stefan Vincent to name only a few.
This vinyl only EP release was produced by new French duo called Laval who have previously delivered two tracks for compilations on the label last year. The respected artists behind this brilliant project are commonly known as Electric Rescue and Kmyle.
TWSR contains four tantalising techno tracks with emotional tones and raw vibes throughout. My favourite of which is “Transsiberian” that begins with a blast of macabre percussion and hypnotic melody over a broken beat. The filter opens gradually as more lush percussion is added and it begins to sound like a waking giant building in tension. The drama builds extremely effectively, the angular sounding key stabs twist turn over the beat as the rhythm begins to sound more and more haunted, stunning work.
