CMND CTRL (Label Boss) / Face To Face
A native of the Mid-West Chicagoland area, Brandon Riley was first introduced to electronic music in the early ’90s, attending underground events that featured groundbreaking electronic music from artists such as Derrick May, Richie Hawtin, and Robert Hood. Not long after being exposed to this exciting new music culture, Brandon sought out to explore sounds of his own, and quickly started producing his own music, releasing his first record at just 18 years of age under the name Disko Kidz. His early works were supported by DJs such as Angel Alanis, DJ Dan, and Joey Beltram.
His vinyl releases earned him international exposure and shortly thereafter, Brandon started playing both a well-received live electronic performance as well as notable DJ gigs around the globe. His early success also inspired him to broaden his musical abilities, launching several of his own labels in the late ’90s / early 2000’s, and co-launching labels such as Soul Phusion Records, and DJ Dan’s InStereo Recordings.
Now producing under his abbreviated name B. Riley, Brandon is back and focusing on sounds primarily in techno and tech-house. B. Riley released an EP in 2020 on Face To Face titled Eyes Open, which has had support by some of the biggest names in techno. In 2021 B. Riley has seen a positive support of his EP ‘Catapult’ on DTL Records by DJs such as Carl Cox, and has successfully launched his own brand-new imprint, CMND CTRL Recordings. His new label has gotten off to a hot start with well-received original releases that have featured remixes by respected artists such as Psyk, Alexi Delano, Ray Kajioka, and Tim Xavier.
