Currently based in the UK and recognised as a renowned hard working and forward thinking artist, Sejon (aka Chris Jones) is refining these qualities towards creating respected musical output as a producer and DJ. Spending most of his hours dedicated to cultivating his productions in the studio, Sejon also hosted his ‘Cadencia Podcast’ mix series from 2009-2020, plus commenced weekly Twitch streams in 2021.

As a DJ, Sejon has played for over fifteen years with bookings and residencies for reputable house and techno promoters in the UK’s South Coast and London scenes, including Gnosis, Product, PunchFunk and Full Circle. His early residencies also extended to appearing under the umbrella of Hi-Tek-Soul and Wonderland events at Ministry Of Sound, plus the Hi:Fi South and Global Gathering Festivals in the mid-noughties.

With a strong competency on either turntables, CDJs or Traktor with MIDI controllers, Sejon is able to execute a thoroughly unique, captivating and defined DJ style. Sejon’s choice of records are sublimely blended together stylishly on the fly, while embracing the unique challenge and creative merit of each performance format. His approach to DJing resulted in Sejon winning Mixcloud’s South West Four DJ Competition in 2011 and consequently playing at the Minus night at Ministry Of Sound during the festival weekend that year.

In production, Sejon has been consistently releasing his music on independent labels since 2012, after successfully accomplishing a First Class BA degree in Digital Music at university. His initial emergence on the Naples based Etichetta Nera with a remix, led to three well-received EPs between 2012-2014 and an album in 2015. Along with debut EPs also released on Spark Musik and D-Form under the guidance of Steve Parker and Angel Alanis in 2014, Sejon’s stripped back, hypnotic styling continued to gain momentum.

Sejon has spent recent years focusing primarily on cultivating and refining his musical output, leading him to experiment further into darker, hypnotic territory. In 2017, his track ‘Dreamers’, was included on the Faut Section 3rd Anniversary Compilation alongside prolific artists including Lewis Fautzi, Oscar Mulero, Pfirter, Jonas Kopp, Zadig and many more.

Collaborating with fellow music producer and brother, Operator, in launching Gnosis Records, incorporated the inception of their own label nights in 2016. This venture has given Sejon the opportunity not only to flourish as a resident DJ, but also as a visual artist. Extending his creative merit to visuality, Sejon films, edits and arranges stimulating background visuals in line with the label’s conceptuality, while maintaining his artistic vision.

His passion for music and visuals, lead him to study an MSc in Music & Sound Technology between 2017 and 2018. While focusing on his Audio Engineering discipline, Sejon researched and devised a live performance concept incorporating direct music visualizations from sound, based on the principles of Cymatics. His development of this project, named ‘Sonic Fluidity’, enabled Sejon to push the boundaries of techno and expand his production into ambient, broken beat, and tribal sub-styles. This fusion of sounds with hypnotic, immersive visuals generated from the unique vibrational impact of each track in liquid, was welcomed with a debut live performance opportunity in Beijing in 2019.

In launching his own imprint, V1 Records, in 2020, plus strong affiliation to Ruben Ganev’s Mould Audio, Sejon continues to experiment and develop his music and visual productions towards greater acclaim within the techno scene and beyond. With further releases and remix contributions set to emerge in 2021 on V1, Mould Audio, Metier and DEAD CERT. Records, Sejon’s pursuits in DJing, production and visuals continue to form an interesting future within the electronic music scene.
