The new Italian label Substrato is making good ground in a short period. Created by Alessandro Stefanio also known as Buck, it specialises in mellow, ambient and atmospheric Techno. Having already featured Edit Select on remix duty on the first release, fans of artists like Svreca, Conforce and Abdulla Rashim would also enjoy the stellar sounds, as the label has already picked up support from Inigo Kennedy for example.
The third EP titled An Extraordinary Day On The Exoplanet comes from highly regarded artist and recent DTMIX132 guest Dorian Gray, who has releases under his belt for Illegal Alien, Circular Limited, Android Muziq and [webuildmachines] amongst many others.
For this DT:Premiere we selected the second original track called “A Winking Light In The Dark” for its inspiring use of layer textures and a mesmerising melody that will appeal to those who like more introspective and spaced out dancefloor rhythms.

Q&A with Dorian Gray
> What was the thinking behind this track and did you achieve what you set out?
Behind this track there is the desire to achieve the perfect balance between light and darkness, when light encounters a darkness. It’s inserted in the extraplanetary concept of the EP and is a journey into the darkness to reach a destination of light.
> What tips and advice can you share to any producers on shaping their own sound?
I do not have any specific recommendations, but follow your instinct when you’re in the studio, without following an established script, let creativity flow … if you’ve got it, and to be “cleaned” in sound research.
> What is your go to track at the moment by another artist?
One of the tracks that I prefer and play at the moment is…
Agnosia - “Forget You? (I Can’t)” [Ephemeral Manoeuvres] (2016)
