Kole Leijen aka DJ Surgeles, is a true musician with a lot of energy!
He started listening to old records at the age of five and when he got his first set of turntables as a present for his birthday, he started playing numerous old records. With records from Emerson, Lake & Palmer, Pink Floyd and many many more he found out what true music is! At the young age of eight his sister introduced him to house music. It was then he started recording tapes with different styles of house music.
When he was 15 years old he checked in to a houseparty and it was there he knew he wanted to become a techno-DJ! He started to visit his local record dealer very often and a huge vinyl collection was the result. Soon he started to produce his own techno music and within a very short time people became known to his sound. Dark, deep and swerving techno!! He played his first gig at the age of 16 in Amsterdam and since then it is all going very very well.
In 2005 he visited Jeff Mills at Haarlem and gave him a demo. The very next day Surgeles received a personal mail from the one and only mister Jeff Mills. Jeff mills claimed that his music sounded great and that inspired him to let Surgeles make a mix for his Purpose Maker Label. Two weeks later Surgeles mix was on Jeffs Axis site for the 10th anniversary of the famous record “The Bells”. Later that year when Dave Clarke had a competition for best produced song on Amsterdam Dance Event 2005, Surgeles was winner and was then chosen to play with Dave Clarke on his famous radio show White Noise at 3FM.
A little while later Dave Clarke started to spin tracks of Surgeles on house party’s and also at 3FM again! He created a own style: dark, warm and pounding techno. In the meantime he played at several parties and got his own style of spinning records. Around 2007 he started his own party-organisation with some friends, called “Civilised?”. They found a club called Escape in Amsterdam, where they organised a few parties with artists like Elektrabel, Regis, Anton Pieëte, Bas Mooy, and Rumenige & Loktibrada.Surgeles also played with artists like Dimitrib2b, Echoplex, and Steve Rachmad.
In 2009 he started his own record-label called “Underground Freedom Fighters (UFF)” which by now have 4 releases including: ‘Feel the Vibe’ and ‘Major Experiment’! In 2010 at Amsterdam Dance Event Surgeles met up with Jeff Mills again. Jeff asked him to make a compilation for his label called ‘Something In The Sky’. He also met up with Dave Clarke again who played another Surgeles track on the ADE White Noise Show.
Be Prepared for this DJ!!
