Concrete Records is an Italian label that has their finger on the pulse and the newest release is the first VA titled Concrete Series Vol. 1 that will currently only be available on vinyl. Their stunning back catalogue features music by artists like Svreca, Tensal and Cassegrain as CLTD006 welcomes more top-quality producers to the imprint.
Luigi Tozzi is an enigmatic figure in the techno world with releases on Psyk’s Non Series, Delsin and Abstract Division’s Dynamic Reflection. We’d certainly consider ourselves fans and followers of his work as he has also recorded DTMIX140 for us back in 2017 showcasing his luscious sound. His track “Ghost Lake” is of course a patient, atmospheric journey with a sparse breakdown, delicious details and analogue warmth.
The second track is by Berlin-based veteran Dino Sabatini known for his EPs for Lucy’s Stroboscopic Artefacts, Adam X’s Sonic Groove and the now defunct Prologue imprint. He opts for a punchy kick as the foundation while also being as hypnotic as opener, “Baubaus” uses flickering pops to create a spacial atmosphere.
Sub Accent is a new artist on our radar and the Frenchman’s stunning track “System Privacy” certainly shows his class, with an abstract tribal sound and trippy vibe. Previously his work has landed on Subsist, Bokhari and Noorden as well as his own Accents Records, so we look forward to checking out more cuts from him in the near future.
Giorgio Gigli of Speedy J’s Electric Deluxe and Planet Rhythm combines with Lunatik of Suburban Avenue and Modular Expansion to close the EP. Both are based in Rome and they create a twisted, dubby, acid track that will mesmerise and hypnotise with its warping style, aptly named “Concrete 1” it provides a dystopian looking glass filled with tension.
