The Croatian label Out Of Place is ran by Insolate and Volster who bring an extensive history and experience, with this release being the fifth in it’s annual schedule thus far. The back catalogue has featured leading artists such as Milton Bradley as his Alien Rain moniker, Developer, François X and JoeFarr amongst others.

Opening the new release is Janice who is a Berliner known for releasing on the likes of Mord. “Access All” uses a broken beat surrounded with abstract delayed sounds to create an off-kilter atmosphere. The bubbling acid-line adds a menacing tone making this a real mental workout full of character.

Label head Insolate drops “Shiftin’ Power” that has a bouncing pulse and looping bleeps to carry the groove forward. The intensity soon rises with a jittering, gated hook to complete its sonic, stripped back arsenal ready for dance floor domination.

Venezuelan artist Michel Lauriola has released music on Animal Farm, Newrhythmic to Affekt Recordings and his track “Being Complicated” is a hypnotic juggernaut, with a pumping sound that’s bursting with energy and oozing quality from its raw analogue core.

Following appearances on TWR72’s Float and Manuel Di Martino’s Persistence, Neznan has created an infectious journey of uptempo wonder for “Kontrast“. Geared for peak time club warfare, the combination of 909 ferocity from kicks and toms have a jackin’ feel, where the stabbing, manic tones are harsh and fierce, but work so well for those who like no holds barred techno.

In summary, this is a surprising collection of downright mean and functional tracks that have a serious attitude for serious techno lovers.
